Introduction

Our client is a leading global insurance and financial services group seeking an experienced professional to join its Overseas Strategy team. This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in shaping the company's international growth strategy through cross-border M&A, strategic investments, and post-merger integration (PMI). Based in Tokyo, you will work closely with global business platforms and senior stakeholders to support strategic initiatives across international markets.


About the Role

As a member of the Overseas Strategy team, you will be involved in the full lifecycle of cross-border M&A transactions, from evaluating investment opportunities to supporting due diligence, execution, and post-acquisition integration. The role also provides exposure to broader strategic initiatives, including supporting new business development and other corporate investment activities across the group's global operations.

You will collaborate with internal business units, overseas affiliates, and external advisors while working directly with senior management on high-impact strategic projects.


Responsibilities

  • Support the evaluation and execution of cross-border M&A and strategic investment opportunities.
  • Conduct market research and analyze potential acquisition targets, including business, financial, operational, and management assessments.
  • Prepare investment analyses, identify key risks and issues, and support investment decision-making.
  • Coordinate and participate in due diligence processes alongside internal stakeholders and external advisors.
  • Assist with post-merger integration (PMI) planning and execution to ensure successful business integration.
  • Support strategic initiatives related to new business development and other corporate investment projects.
  • Prepare presentations, reports, and materials for senior management and facilitate coordination across global and regional stakeholders.


Requirements

  • Business-level English with the ability to communicate effectively with overseas stakeholders and advisors.
  • Experience or strong knowledge of the non-life insurance industry; underwriting or reinsurance experience is advantageous.
  • Strong financial analysis and valuation capabilities.
  • Knowledge of accounting and corporate finance principles is preferred.
  • Understanding of cross-border M&A processes, including due diligence and transaction execution, is highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical, presentation, and problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and work in a fast-paced international environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
