Introduction

We are currently supporting a search for a Senior Robotics Research Scientist within the artificial intelligence and robotics industry. This role centers on leading the development of foundational AI models and real-world autonomous systems. Positioned within a major national-scale research project, the role offers a rare platform to shape open-source ecosystems and drive international technological innovation.


About the Role

Operating as an advanced research leader within the artificial intelligence and robotics industry, you will drive the convergence of foundational AI models with physical hardware. Reporting directly to the Head of Robotics Research, you will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of engineers, industry partners, and academic leaders. You will utilize cutting-edge simulation software, extensive compute infrastructure, and real-robot test beds to build scalable, high-performance robotic solutions that impact the global ecosystem.


Responsibilities

Research & Model Innovation

  • Lead the design and development of cutting-edge AI models to enhance real-world robot adaptability and autonomous perception.
  • Utilize advanced simulation tools and physical test beds to optimize robot learning feedback loops and model precision.

System Integration & Real-World Deployment

  • Spearhead initiatives to train, test, and deploy AI-driven robotic systems across complex physical environments.
  • Translate theoretical academic research into scalable, robust software architecture using standard integration frameworks.

Ecosystem & Open Collaboration

  • Partner with prominent industrial and academic institutions to integrate diverse methodologies and shared technologies.
  • Drive the creation of open platforms for datasets and models, ensuring broad accessibility across the global research community.

Leadership & Knowledge Dissemination

  • Publish and present original research findings at tier-one international conferences and peer-reviewed journals.
  • Mentor junior researchers and research interns, cultivating a highly collaborative and innovative team dynamic.


Requirements

  • Experience: 5+ years of demonstrable experience in advanced robotics systems and foundational AI research.
  • Industry Background: Deep technical expertise within the artificial intelligence and robotics industry or related high-tech research sectors.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Python, C++, and robot middleware (ROS/ROS2), alongside a track record of top-tier academic publications (e.g., ICRA, NeurIPS, CVPR).
  • Languages: Native-level Japanese and Business-level English (or vice versa, provided fluent professional communication in both languages is met).
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional cross-functional leadership, project management abilities, and a collaborative, open-source mindset.
